Upon arrival

I love this crazy, crazy world, called India. It feels so like coming home. The odours, the colours, the shabbiness, the incredible conditions in which people live happily ever after...

Upon our arrival in Mumbai airport, the shuttle service guy was already waiting for us, and when the expected time and the other passengers arrived, he ushered us to the parking and although we had to wait twenty minutes in the exhaust fume and loud horning of all the other cars trying to get a parking spot, our car arrived as foreseen. Everything went too smoothly, can it be true? Yes, but not for too long.

After about half an our of driving, our driver, who was asking us, first time visitors to this place, for directions how to get to the destination in Marathi, was turning on and off the lights of his car like crazy. It turned out that they were not working at all. OK, no problem, just a quick stop on the side of the road, the driver (and a voluntary helper who suddenly turned up from nowhere) trying to fix the problem. No luck... Anyway, we spend an excruciatingly long 45 minutes there in vain (we are talking about 1 o'clock in the morning after an 8.5 hour flight, you can imagine). After which we just continue our way as if nothing had happened. We go on the highway, with no light on, just the emergency warning lights flashing on the two sides of the car, in the opposite direction than the course of all the other cars and huge, colourfully decorated vans. At this point, I prefer to close my eyes and try to sleep instead of watching our car fall off the edge or crash into a van.

Today, we were just exploring the neighbourhood, eating and drinking the best specialities and trying not to fall asleep before dusk at least.

Just can't wait to get into the institute and start practising on Monday!
