Iyengar yoga is a yoga system developed by and named after Yogacharya BKS Iyengar, who has systemised classical yoga asanas (postures) and pranayama (breathing exercise). Emphasis is put on precision, duration of the postures and the sequencing of these postures.
Why practice Iyengar yoga?
With the use of props, such as blankets, belts, blocks, chairs, yoga asanas become available to all of us, even in case of stiffness of the body, ailment or old age. With regular practice of Iyengar yoga, we gain physical, mental and emotional stability and good health.
